Happy Monday!
Here is 1 Quote, 2 Planning Thoughts and 3 Interesting jobs to start your week…
1. Quote
If there’s one quality I believe defines wisdom in the workplace more than any other, it is the capacity for holistic or systems thinking that allows one to get the “gist” of something by synthesizing a wide variety of information quickly. Part of this is aided by the skill of pattern recognition that helps you come to hunches faster that account for the bigger picture
2. Planning Thoughts
One often overlooked aspect of planning and scheduling is securing collective agreement on the plan and schedule. Don't expect people to read your 36 page .pdf that looks straight out of 1987. As you work to create a baseline think about what that agreement might look like. Physically signing off or having their agreement recorded somewhere will encourage people to put in more effort.
Before you complain about anything, take 3 actions to improve whatever you were going to complain about. Unable to get agreement on a plan or schedule? Get a workshop on the calendar. Project Manager giving you progress late? Walk the job site and get it yourself.
