Power of Attitudes, Capturing Assumptions and ENR Top 10 Jobs

One Motivation

We want solutions, but what we really need are attitudes. You don't need abs, but rather an attitude of training. You don't need the answer, but rather an attitude of curiosity. You don't need an easier life, but rather an attitude of perseverance. Attitude precedes outcome. - James Clear

Two Thoughts on Scheduling

  • Every assumption should be captured when building a plan or schedule. Consider them variables in a complex math problem. It is inevitable that some of these variables will change as time progresses. A few will have a dramatic impact. It's a good thing you captured them.

  • There are fixed durations and variable durations in every schedule. Permit timelines or cure times are fixed durations. It is unlikely to change. Variable durations refer to anything that can be modified by time, money, or movement. The process of optimizing a schedule involves retooling variable durations around fixed durations.
